Know about diamond flaws when buying them for engagement ring

Often it is said that diamonds become more affordable if they have flaws in them. But would you be buying any such stone. Some of the flaws are welcome as they do not mar the brilliance and fire of the stone. Others are to be avoided. So, be aware of these flaws.

Do not purchase a diamond with cleavage, which is a serious flaw and may split the diamond in future. Notice the bearding also. Bearding occurs during the cutting of diamond and hair-like lines appear around the stone griddle. Diamonds also have growth lines and they may be visible or invisible to the naked eye.

Amongst other flaws, look for the laser lines, which are man made inclusions. Some flaws look like small feathers but are harmless. But the feather should not reach to the diamond surface or it will break the stone. Do not buy such diamond. Know about the flaws more before buying the diamond engagement rings.
