Influencing celebrity jewelry trend

June 30th, 2008

Everyday we see new trend in jewelry and the best way to get the glimpse of new trend in jewelry or wardrobe is in Oscar award or marriages of celebrities. And it seems that nearly all of Hollywood’s celebrities are either getting married or engaged these days. What is exciting about these engagements or marriages is that the trend they follow like jewelry, engagement rings and other accessories.

Since celebrities have the ability to effect and drive trends, it should come as no surprise that engagement ring trends are being shaped by what these celebrities are saying.

While celebrities can be trend influencers, the true personality of the brides and grooms-to-be become apparent with the fine jewelry and watches they select for their big day. The three main style and personality trends include fashion forward design, romantic glamour, and modern sophistication.

Other thing is that most of the celebrities are able to afford the fashion jewelry that they wear, but they don’t have to. This is due to the fact that the jewelry designers and dealers are willing to loan the fashion jewelry to the celebrities just in order to gain visibility for their companies.

Diamond once worn by Jacqueline Kennedy is on sale

June 16th, 2008

A glittering diamond ring once owned by first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, now featured in a unique women’s ring, is being offered for sale on eBay, through Winchester consignment shop 4 Sale in

Winchester.

While the stunning diamond itself is less than a carat, the ring is already generating tremendous buzz among rare jewelry enthusiasts and fans of Kennedy memorabilia.

“The value of the ring is relatively modest,” explained Carl Johnson, the owner of 4 Sale in

Winchester, which specializes in unique things such as antique watches, vintage jewelry and rare collectibles.

“It’s the diamond’s history that gives this piece distinct appeal and edge. The fact that it was worn by our country’s most glamorous first lady is truly compelling for collectors.”

This compelling quality has also dramatically enhanced the ring’s value. While its face value is around $1,500, collectors have already pushed the price to more than $10,000.

“Once the ring is featured on eBay.com,” added Johnson, “it’s very much possible that the value could jump to more than ten times that amount.”

The diamond engagement ring was missing since 40 years, and the family had lost all hopes of finding it. Like many other diamond engagement rings, this ring was also made of large diamonds and a red ruby set in rose gold.

Popularity of Diamond Engagement Rings is on the Rise

April 19th, 2008

According to a recent De Beers study, four out of five prospective brides receive precious diamond engagement rings. National Jeweler’s 2003 survey found that more than 40 percent of customers planned on buying a certified diamond one carat or larger. And the 2002 American Wedding Study (sponsored by Condé Nast) revealed that average engagement rings cost $3,576: more than 16 percent of the average wedding budget.

“It’s hard to talk about exactly when this tradition of gifting diamond engagement rings started,” says Vicki Howard, adjunct professor of economics and women’s studies at Hartwick College. “Before the 1870s, diamonds were rare. But in the contemporary period, diamond jewelry including diamond engagement rings, diamond wedding rings and diamond anniversary rings have become immensely popular.

Man finds his lost diamond wedding ring after 25 years

April 7th, 2008

A man who lost his diamond wedding ring 25 years ago was reunited with it recently. He never thought that he would find his wedding ring, but just a few days ago it was discovered by accident. Now he says he’ll never take it off.

He lost the ring in a building at Barracks Road Shopping Center. It was once a restaurant where Selden Tilman worked many years ago. The newlywed man was in the kitchen when his wedding ring slipped off his finger and went down the drain.

“All of a sudden I went home I realized I didn’t have my wedding ring. I was worried. I thought the next day I’ll go back to work and get the grease trap and get my ring. Well, they had maintenance that night and they concreted that hole and that was it, that was all for the ring,” said Selden Tilman who lost his Wedding Ring.

His heart was broken, but he didn’t have guts to tell his wife about the incident.
“I don’t think I could repeat that on TV. She was upset, but she understood,” said Tilman.
Years went by. His wife bought him a new wedding ring, the ring he wore everyday until a few days ago.

“Selden really couldn’t have been any luckier,” said Doug Barrese, Found Lost Ring.
His wedding ring was discovered beneath the sewer by a repair man checking the pipes under the old café where he used to work. Pulling up the silverware that had long clogged the pipes, attached to one of the forks was his wedding ring.

“It was pretty nasty it was grungy it had some debris on it and it was pretty funky,” said Barrese. So, he cleaned it up.

When Tilman got the diamond wedding ring, he was overjoyed. It brought tears in his eyes. Needless to say, diamond wedding rings have great importance in newly wed couple’s lives.
